The Rustic Event Center | Hopkinsville, KY
Jessica and Mike held their wedding ceremony and reception at The Rustic Event Center in Hopkinsville, KY on July 25th, 2021.
I first want to say congratulations to the newlyweds. Your wedding was beautiful and it was an honor to capture all of your memories!
This was the first time that we have had the opportunity to shoot a wedding at The Rustic Event Center, but I certainly hope it’s not our last.
It’s a great venue, and the owners are really nice and accommodating.
Getting Ready and Details
I first started with some detail shots of the wedding dress hanging on the arbor where Jessica and Mike would later get married.
Mike actually built this arbor himself and did an amazing job. He did such a great job that the venue bought it from him to use for future weddings there.
This isn’t the first time I have seen the groom build their own arbor for their wedding day. Just a few months ago I shot the first wedding ever held at the Mahr Park Event Barn and Kyle built his own arbor as well. Check out Kelly and Kyle’s wedding blog post if you get a chance.
We then started shooting some getting ready images of Jessica getting her hair and makeup done as well as getting in the dress.
The First Look
Mike and Jessica’s first look started off with a fake first look. Joey came up behind Mike and pretended to be Jessica which resulted in many laughs.
Shortly after, Jessica made her way down from The Lodge and had a true first look with Mike.
It was a sweet and intimate moment between them that I was honored to capture.
I always advise couples to have a first look if they are unsure whether they want to do one or not.
The Ceremony
After the first look, while we were taking some romantic pictures of Jessica and Mike it started to rain.
We had been hearing thunder and seeing darker clouds around us all afternoon but no rain until right before the ceremony.
Jessica and Mike decided to go ahead with the outdoor ceremony at the scheduled time and get married in the rain.
Luckily, with a telephoto zoom lens and a covered back patio, I was still able to capture every moment.
I was even able to capture that perfect moment when Mike dropped Jessica’s wedding ring and Jessica’s reaction was priceless.
Even with the rain, Mike and Jessica’s wedding ceremony was beautiful to witness and I can’t wait for everyone to see all of the images.
The Reception
The newlyweds first cut their wedding cake and fed each other a piece before receiving a toast from Joey and Stephanie.
They then went to the back patio where they had their first dance as a married couple with all of their friends and family watching.
Shortly after, others joined the dance floor and nobody could compete with Stephanie to be the best dancer.
Later in the night, there were many laughs during the boot game, bouquet toss, and garter belt toss.
Finishing Thoughts
It was an honor to be a small part of Mike and Jessica’s big day.
The love that they have for each other is quite easy to see.
I wish nothing but the best for these two on their journey through life together!
